Skyline Whitespace has expanded its in-house offering by opening a fully operational, custom workshop at its headquarters in Colliers Wood, South London.
Using the latest carpentry tooling, this progressive step forward allows the Skyline Whitespace design team the ability to design more creative, dynamic and enterprising exhibition stands, providing a one stop solutions to a variety of build challenges.
A hybrid solution
Mary Cole, Managing Director of Skyline Whitespace says: “the new workshop will allow us to introduce custom produced features to clients’ stands, creating a hybrid of custom and modular. Most companies will have either a custom or a modular stand – we can mix the two so that we can maximise creativity yet retain the benefits of modular sustainability and cost savings”.
The new workshop is run by Aidan Brady, a graduate of fine art, who has extensive experience in the custom build arena as a skilled craftsman with the likes of the Royal Opera House, Tate Gallery and Nike.
“I’m still active in my own practice as an artist. I’m very passionate about working closely with the in-house design team and developing the next area of event design.”
“After my first meeting with Skyline Whitespace, it made complete sense from a business point of view what they were looking to achieve. Then it was full steam ahead creating the right space and obtaining the right tools to be able to give us the ability to start creating some awesome stands” says Aidan.
He continues; “At the start it was a massively daunting prospect starting from scratch, but it all came together and then it quickly became apparent that we would need more staff.
“We recently produced the MAFKA stand at IFE 2019 combining a core system structure with Plywood sheet fabrication, fabric graphics and structural wooden bridges to create a natural looking stand with great presence. The whole stand is fully re-usable and can be used for many future shows”
This is only the start
Aidan and his team have started to incorporate other elements into the workshop to grow their offering including poly carving, sculpting, spraying and more design techniques.
