Exhibition industry scams – company directories

We’re hearing of an increasing number of exhibitors who are being stung by company directory scams.

Exhibiting companies have been contacted by third party companies giving the impression that they are compiling the ‘official’ show guide and working on behalf of event organisers.

These companies send misleading directory services forms or ask for payments that are completely unrelated to the event or organiser.

Warning: If you sign and return this form, you will be locked into a three-year, non retractable agreement which could cost you several thousand pounds. You could receive unexpected invoices and threatening phone calls for payment.

Be vigilant

If you have exhibited at an event, you may have received one of these letters from the following companies:

  • FairGuide.com
  • Construct Data Verlag
  • Expo Guide (Mexico)
  • Event Fair
  • International Fairs Directory

There are further companies running these schemes.

Should you be in any doubt contact your representative at the relevant exhibition or contractor directly before responding to any correspondence.
